Prague Accommodation
Prague did have a reputation for very cheap accommodation but prices have risen in recent years. However, there are still bargains to be found and the increase in prices has been reflected by improvements in the quality of Prague accommodation available.
Hotels
The city has become very cosmopolitan and, just like any other major tourist resort, you'll find that all the leading hotel chains are present. You'll find that you'll pay a premium to stay in or around the historic centre of the city. Staying in such locations is undoubtedly more pleasant, although public transport in Prague is very good, so you needn't be put off staying further out.
Hostels and Student accommodation
Younger visitors may prefer to stay in one of the city's hostels, which are always popular with backpackers. During the summer months, the university's hall of residents are also available as a place to stay.
As you might expect, hostels work out cheaper than hotels, although you should obviously be prepared for a lower quality of service and surroundings. Some hostels in Prague will include breakfast within the price.
Self Catering Apartments
An alternative to staying in a hotel is to rent your own apartment for the duration of your stay. This can work out considerably cheaper and also allow you to have a base in the very heart of the city of Prague. There are agencies in the cities that can provide you with such accommodation but you'd be wise to look for a personal recommendation, as the quality of this type of accommodation can vary significantly.
