Antalya Car Hire
Most visitors in Antalya tend to arrive at Antalya International Airport. If you're planning on having a car for the entire duration of your stay then a good option will be to use one of the Antalya car hire services available at the airport. That way, you won't have to worry about making your own way into the city.
All of the big international car hire companies will allow you to pick up your car (and return it to) the airport, making this a relatively simple exercise. The only downside will be that you'll find yourself exposed to the erratic nature of the Turkish road system from the point when you arrive in the country - an experience not for the faint hearted!
If you're staying in Antalya at one of the many hotels and are only intending on hiring a car for a few days of your stay then an alternative option that you'll find available to you will be to simply get the car dropped off at your hotel. Once again, this is a service that is offered by all of the leading Antalya car hire companies and is something that you can arrange prior to your departure from the UK.
Alternatively, if you've booked your trip via a travel company then local representatives may be able to organise Antalya car hire for you once you arrive. You just need to be a little wary of such deals - are you going to be getting the best value for money?
In terms of driving in Turkey, you'll find that it's much like other European countries. At the time of writing, the road accident record in Turkey is inferior to that of the United Kingdom, but such a statistic can be applied to most major European countries. As a foreigner in Antalya, it's wise to have a decent map and ensure that you're clear on directions before setting off - spending time looking at a map while also trying to drive is not something that we'd recommend!
Car hire in Antalya is certainly recommended if you want to experience some of the real Turkey. Organised trips that are offered by tour operators are not necessarily value for money and can be quite limited. With the freedom of a hire car you can pick and choose when you wish to arrive at particular sites of interest.
