For those of you who are unfamiliar with the town and struggling to get your bearings with the Bansko map, the original medieval town has been greatly expanded over the last decade or so. Unlike the other two major ski resorts in Bulgaria, this one has been purpose built around the existing town, which itself is popular with many holidaymakers visiting Bulgaria.
The expansion of the town has seen it grow into Bulgaria's largest ski resort and an increasingly popular location for those looking for budget skiing holidays. It's estimated that more British people visit Bansko each year than any other nationality (with the obvious exception of Bulgarians!).
