Climate of Los Angeles

If you're considering going to California for your holidays the climate of Los Angeles is going to be of interest to you. Unlike most places around the globe however, Los Angeles has a climate which will please almost anyone except those who prefer cold, snowy weather!

Whenever you are planning to take your vacation in Los Angeles you are almost guaranteed to have warm weather with sunshine for most of the time. Even during the winter, there is no need for bulky warm clothing, a light rainproof jacket is probably the most you will need during the day, with a sweater for the evening when the temperatures do tend to drop a little - but to anyone coming from colder regions, even this drop in temperature will be moderate and nothing to complain about!

One disadvantage in Los Angeles isn't so much the weather, but rather the smog factor. This is worse from the late spring through to autumn so if you have a health condition where breathing can be an issue, then it would be best to avoid the months during the main summer period when the smog levels are at their highest. With LA enjoying good weather year round, not being able to travel at these times isn't the restriction it would be elsewhere, plus you have the advantage of vacationing off-season where you'll be better placed for picking up a bargain holiday! For those who will travel when the smog is forecast to be at its worst, the beach is the place to be - as the smog levels are lower near the ocean.

Spring/summer temperatures in the Los Angeles area vary from about 60-84 degrees F with an average of approximately 85% sunshine each day - which makes the temperature feel that little bit hotter! Temperatures nearer the ocean will be a few degrees lower because of the breeze and closeness to the water. In the autumn/winter, you can expect temperatures of between 60-75 degrees F. There may be showers during your visit to Los Angeles, but they won't last long and they won't be enough to ruin your holiday - and the weather could still be warm enough to allow you to sit out on a covered patio as the rain falls.

Unless you prefer vacationing in areas of extreme weather (either hot or cold) then the climate of Los Angeles will be perfect to allow you to carry out your holiday plans without worrying whether it will be too hot, or whether it will rain for the entire time you are there.
