Disneyworld on a Budget
It may sound like a contradiction of terms to mention DisneyWorld and budget in the same sentence, but it is possible to visit DisneyWorld on a budget if you plan your visit carefully ahead of time.
The first thing you need to consider is what you want to see at Walt Disney World. If this is your main purpose for your trip to Florida, then you probably want to see it all. If it's just something you feel you ought to do because you are in Orlando, then maybe one of the parks will be enough to satisfy that item on your "must see" check list.
If you are hoping to enjoy all of the parks that DisneyWorld has to offer, then it's going to take you quite a number of days to do it all properly without feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. One of the greatest budget saving ideas is to buy a Pass for a number of days. If you want to "do it all", then a 5 day pass or even longer will be cost effective. There are two big advantages to buying a pass for a longer period; firstly you are allowed to transfer between the different parks on the same day without paying an additional entrance fee, and secondly you can travel free between parks on the Disney transportation system. Make sure you check all the terms and conditions before making your purchase.
What this means in real terms is that for the amount of days that your pass is valid, you can visit any of the DisneyWorld parks at any time. You can enjoy the thrills and spills of MGM Studios in the morning, and then relax in the afternoon at one of the water parks before spending the evening watching the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom without paying to transfer between the parks or any additional entrance fees. Many of the multi-day passes are for the amount of separate days, and not consecutive days so you can even have a day off to see a non-Disney attraction.
One place you can't save money at DisneyWorld is in the food and drink area as you are no longer allowed to take anything into the parks with you. These are expensive so ask around at your hotel, check local press and tourist information leaflets for any rebate coupons for meals within the Disney parks. Another idea here is to make sure you eat a large buffet style breakfast before you leave the hotel and only buy a light snack for lunch whilst you are there and plan on eating supper once you leave the DisneyWorld area.
DisneyWorld on a budget is possible with a bit of research into finding the right ticket options for the kind of ticket passes that best suit the kind of holiday you hope to have, plan your eating around the park so you only pay for essential snacks and drinks, and buy the necessarily memorabilia elsewhere in Orlando. Many local stores stock Disney merchandise for much less than you'll pay inside of DisneyWorld.
