Eating in Dumfries

After walking in the hills or exploring the coast, you will be ready for something to eat. Dumfries has a great selection of places to get food. There are any number of take aways that do fish and chips, curries, kebabs and pizza.

However, if you are after somewhere to eat in, again, you are spoilt for choice. Dumfries has a great selection of restaurants and pubs that serve food.

The White Swan: A great little pub that has expanded to quality food. You fill find this pub on the low road out of Dumfries at Kingholm Quay. The menu is pretty typical of what you might expect, but if they have the rack of ribs on the specials board, go for them!

The Caven Arms: This pub is actually in the town centre itself and does some fantastic home cooking. This is the place to try haggis, tatties and neeps. Despite being in the town centre, the prices offer fantastic value for money.

Casa Mia: Just away from the town centre itself is this great Italian restaurant. If you like Italian food and wine, then this is the place to go. You will be made welcome and there is a great atmosphere here.

The Linen Room: If you want something special, and I mean special, then this is the place to go. It is not cheap, but what food and service. A small restaurant in Dumfries that makes you feel like a millionaire, and the food is also as rich. The menu is seasonal and is full of surprises, this is a venue for those who enjoy the very best.
