First Visit to Los Angeles
On your first visit to Los Angeles you should make a list of the things you really want to see - before you leave home! Once you get there it will be all too easy to get caught up with the city and become unfocussed so that you run to this attraction, and then to that, and then before you realize it you didn't actually get out to see the stars on the Walk of Fame and have someone take your photograph beside the star belonging to your screen hero or heroine! If you are only there a week or so, jet lag is also going to be taking its toll on your body so you need to have some definite plans for the first couple of days at least!
What is that you hope to get out of your trip? Do you want to just do the Hollywood thing and absorb as much of the movie magic as possible, through the museums, tours, movie theatres and memorabilia? Or do you want to shop until you drop in famous name stores where celebrities buy their clothes? Perhaps you want to experience the thrills and spills of theme parks such as the roller coaster rides of the Six Flags Magic Mountain and ignore the Hollywood scene completely. For a first visit to the area, it would be good idea to try and have a taste of everything the city has to offer. You might be surprised that what you thought didn't interest you is actually an experience you don't want to forget!
Find out how to transfer from your airport to the hotel so that you can do so without getting stressed out when you first arrive at the airport. Before leaving on your holiday become familiar with the local customs for tipping employees in hotels, restaurants etc, also get to know what kind of area your hotel is located in and the places to eat that are close to it. Learn what your options are for getting around the city, what methods of transport are available to you and make sure you budget for this. For most visitors on their first visit to Los Angeles, their hotel is going to be their place of safety, the desk clerk their fountain of information, and their room a place they call home - so make sure you choose a hotel which is going to offer you this kind of experience! A knowledgeable desk clerk can save you time and money during your trip, and a clean comfortable hotel room will ensure that you don't remember the trip for the wrong reasons!
