Flybe - Discount Flights

Online booking means that you're now able to book Flybe flights to more than 40 European destinations, with prices starting from £10 for a return journey.

Flybe flights operate from a number of UK regional airports, including Birmingham, Exeter, Southampton, London Gatwick, Newcastle and Norwich. We've always found their prices to be competitive and they're a particularly good alternative for those who find it inconvenient to fly from larger airports.

Save on Flybe Flights

Our own reviewers experiences of Flybe flights departing from Southampton Airport (to both Dublin and Rennes) has been that check-in times have been greatly reduced compared to the likes of Heathrow or Stansted. The aircraft used by Flybe always seem to have been perfectly comfortable but be aware that Flybe flights do not have food served onboard. The cheapest alternative is to take a packed lunch along with you!

Interestingly, the airline appear to have little or no competition from some of the airports that they fly from. Their budget airline rivals, such as BMI Baby, Easyjet and Ryanair, tend to operate from different airports where possible. This may well be an intentional arrangement and does often mean that Flybe flights offer good value on most routes.

One thing that's always worth checking with budget airlines is to ensure that the airport that you'll be arriving at is "as billed". Fortunately, this has been our own experience with Flybe, but it's worth checking with any airline before arriving.

About Flybe

Flybe originally started life back in 1979 with the formation of Jersey European Airways, which operated flights from the Channel Island of Jersey. The business continued to expand following a takeover by the Walkersteel group.

In 1993 the airline started to operate routes to the Channel Islands from Belfast, London and Birmingham.

By May 2000 a decision was taken to re-brand the airline, which became known simply as British European. Flybe had become the UK's third largest airline and its growth has continued, now offering customers cheap flights from UK regional airports to other domestic destinations, plus making use of its extensive European route network.
