Flybe are a low cost airline operating from a number of regional airports in the UK. They fly to more than 40 European destinations, but what do their customers really think of them?
I've flown with Flybe a number of times myself (mainly on flights departing from, or arriving at, Southampton Airport), so I have had my own experiences with the airline. In order to see how my thoughts compared with previous customers, I thought I'd take a look through the various online reviews and see what their customers had to say about them. Here's what I found out.
Flybe website
The Flybe website seems generally to be thought to have been put together pretty well. It's pretty easy to navigate round and you can quickly search for availability on particular routes from their home page. One issue that a number of previous customers raise is with the way that special offers are listed on the front page of the website, together with the manner in which pricing is dealt with as a whole.
Special offer prices are listed, with it clearly being stated that such prices include taxes and charges. However, there has been quite a bit of comment online about customers being unable to find the prices as quoted.
From our own extensive testing of the site, we did find that it was generally possible to find the quoted price, but often seemingly on a very limited number of flights, generally those that were being booked some months in advance.
This suggests that the lesson here is to try and be flexible with your travel arrangements - and to book early - if you're looking for the best possible price.
The other concern people raised about the Flybe website concerned the prices that were quoted. Although the prices that are initially displayed are very low, it seems that the taxes and other charges are added later in the process, which makes the booking situation less transparent than it could be. This, it seems, is not an issue that is only restricted to Flybe - other budget airlines operate in a similar way - but it is something that you need to bear in mind, particularly when comparing prices with other airlines who may be displaying all inclusive pricing.
