Riga Nightlife
If you’re planning a trip to Riga in the near future then you’ll probably want to find out what the Riga nightlife scene is like!
Latvians love to party into the early hours and there are pubs, bars and clubs open to allow them to do just that. The favourite local tipple is the strong spirit known as Balzams, which is best sampled at the bar Rigas Balzams on Torna iela. You’ll find that the food is also highly rated in this venue too, making it a good place to start the evening, knowing that food will be available to soak up the alcohol intake!
For those wanting to dance the night away, two top spots are Depo and Cetri balti krekli. Depo is a particularly trendy club, popular with the beautiful people of Riga, with two large cellar rooms. Music is provided by both DJs and Indie bands, meaning that you’re likely to find something to suit your tastes.
Cetri balti krekli is located on Vecpilsetas and provides good helpings of live music, ranging from traditional Latvian folk to modern rock. A great venue to spend the night in.
If you’ve already read any guides to Riga then we’re sure that you’ll already be aware of the famous venue known as the Pupu Lounge. This is quite literally a place where “anything goes”, making it one of Riga’s premier nightspots. Undoubtedly worth a visit – let your hair down and forget about your troubles!
In terms of gay nightlife, you’ll probably want to head to Purvs, rated by many as the coolest gay bar/club in the city.
Whatever takes your fancy, you’ll find something amongst the Riga nightlife to ensure that you have a great time. Enjoy a mixture of the old-fashioned traditional Latvian bars and the more modern, trendy places. The great thing about visiting Riga is that so many of the locals are intent on having a good time and making the most of every minute – if you can’t have fun in this city then we’d be very surprised.
