Shakespeare Hotel Vilnius
The Shakespeare Hotel Vilnius is located in the Old Town and offers holiday accommodation with a literary feel (as you may well have guessed from the name). Each of the rooms is individually decorated to recall the work of a famous writer from history.
The hotel was opened in 1999 and has become popular with tourists from elsewhere in Europe and also from the United States. The management pride themselves on trying to provide excellent levels of service and the feedback that we’ve seen from previous guests suggests that they largely succeed.
Room rates are priced in Euros and at the time of writing we found that double rooms were available from 174 Euros per night. You may well be able to get a better price by shopping around – you can book the hotel via various online travel agents, as well as direct from the hotel website.
The Sonnets Restaurant is on-site and is tastefully decorated, serving a range of cuisine. There are also conference rooms and banquet halls available, meaning that this serves as a good location for larger parties of visitors. There is also internet access available, ensuring that the Shakespeare Hotel is suitable for business visitors – you can enjoy the surroundings while still maintaining contact with your office.
The building itself is something to behold, having been a palace originally constructed back in the 17th century. Located just 50 metres from the Cathedral Square in Vilnius, you’ll find that its central location provides an ideal base for exploring the city. Old Town Vilnius is particularly worth a look – some of the architecture is quite wonderful.
By night, of course, Vilnius is an incredibly vibrant place to spend time. The influx of foreign visitors has been matched by an increase in the numbers of new bars, pubs and clubs. You’ll be able to find a venue to suit your mood and the occasion – from quiet local pubs to chic bars that have positioned themselves firmly at the forefront of the trendy frontier of Vilnius nightlife.
